Artist Statement
In my paintings I use a realistic approach and often combine elements of surrealism to showcase deep emotions and concepts of the human experience.
I am inspired by daily life, human psychology, the way people interact with the natural world and my cultural background. In my paintings, I want to bring a visual sense of these feelings that provokes individuals to think beyond the vibrant colours and details.
Through my artistic process I look for ways to challenge myself and experiment with complex compositions, contrasting themes and complementary colours. While visions of my paintings exist in my mind, on canvas, I like to give space for the finished piece to evolve. There is deep reflection, resilience and I embrace adversity in order to truly fulfill the meaning that was set out for each selected piece.
Painting for me is a way to express a dialogue between the subconscious and the material world in an unspoken language. I hope to cultivate and contribute to a visual medium where people can feel a greater sense of interconnectedness.
